I KNEW IT!!!!

It isn't that I am a lazy sloth, a pig, a creatin, or a some such like that...
The New York Times... That's right, the Gray Lady, the Source of All Truth, All the News That's Fit to Print confirmed this for me this morning.

An anti-anticlutter movement is afoot, one that says yes to mess and urges you to embrace your disorder. Studies are piling up that show that messy desks are the vivid signatures of people with creative, limber minds (who reap higher salaries than those with neat “office landscapes”) and that messy closet owners are probably better parents and nicer and cooler than their tidier counterparts. It’s a movement that confirms what you have known, deep down, all along: really neat people are not avatars of the good life; they are humorless and inflexible prigs, and have way too much time on their hands.

DIY

Making your own colorful fire logs is fun and easy. If you live in an area where firewood is not plentiful this recipe can help you enjoy warm fires on those cold winter nights. The process is inexpensive. The logs give off an incredible amount of heat and help augment the cost of that high winter heating bill. To make Grand Ma’s fire logs to burn in the fireplace, which cast off beautiful and colorful flames you need the following ingredients:

4LBS Copper Sulfur Phosphate

3LBS Rock Salt

One Gallon Distilled Water

Old Newspapers

Mix together the copper sulfur phosphate, rock salt, with the gallon of distilled water. Open the newspapers and place each daily paper one at a time in the mixture. Allow the papers to soak until they are saturated. For larger papers use the Sunday edition or combine more than one paper. Roll the papers into logs and place in a cool dry area to dry. Once they are dried store them until they are ready to be used.

These logs are easy to make and the cost compared to buying firewood is minimal. Plus, using old newspapers for firewood is an excellent way of recycling paper that may otherwise have ended up in the local dumpsite.

OH MY GOD!!

THOMAS: NOW YOU HAVE DONE IT, CHARLIE!
Charlie: Ya know, I know it was wrong, but I couldn't help myself. It was too tempting.
Maybe mama won't notice???
THOMAS: Don't be an idiot. Well..I know, that will be hard for you. Let's at least close the kitchen door so when she comes in she'll at least say hello and give me a hug before she starts screaming at you.
Charlie: Okay. don't shut the door yet, I am not finished eating the egg shells...
Thomas: CHARLIE! Shut up and help me shut this door...

Spelling Test

Now here is an area my dear readers are well aware that I am ill-prepared to be guiding my child
through the miriad (or is it myriad) and contradictory world of spelling.

In order to help me with my weakest leak of parenting, we have decided to do have the children accompany their spelling practice with an Interpretive Dance.

Wash: included a through face scrubbing
Box: made Phoenix into a little square box
Celebrate (challenge word): well...you can imagine the hoopla there

Anyway, the point is it was all pretty cute. Or is that kute? Damn, I mean dam, this parenting is a bitch.
